Trump to Appeal Conviction in Hush Money Trial

Washington: Former US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he will appeal his conviction on all counts in the hush money trial held in New York City. Speaking at a press conference at Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, Trump denounced the trial as a “scam” and expressed his intention to challenge the verdict.

A New York City jury found Trump guilty on Thursday of all 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a $130,000 hush money payment made in 2016 to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, as reported by Xinhua news agency. Trump harshly criticized the judge and claimed the trial was “rigged” and “very unfair.”

He also mentioned that his legal team would appeal on several grounds, including an allegation that the court had barred a crucial witness from testifying in his defense.

Outside Trump Tower on Friday, both supporters and critics of Trump gathered, reflecting the polarizing nature of the case.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for July 11, just ahead of the Republican National Convention. Additionally, Trump and US President Joe Biden are expected to face off in their first debate on June 27 in Atlanta, Georgia.
