“This Question Isn’t Right”: Rohit Sharma Taken Aback by Reporter’s ‘Intruder’ Query

India captain Rohit Sharma was visibly miffed during a press conference ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 clash against Ireland when he was asked about a security scare. The incident occurred during a training session in New York, where a fan breached security to meet Rohit. Although the intruder was swiftly apprehended by officials, Rohit suggested that the fan should be treated with some leniency.

At the pre-match press conference on Tuesday, a reporter brought up the incident, asking: “During the warm-up game, a fan suddenly came onto the ground. The way security caught him, you were requesting them to take it easy. Can you tell us about your emotions at that time?”

Rohit, clearly disappointed by the question, responded firmly: “First of all, I would say that no one should intrude onto the ground. This is not right, and this question is also not right because we don’t want to promote this behavior of running onto the ground.”

The Indian captain emphasized the importance of security for both players and spectators, stressing the need to follow rules and regulations. “Player security is important, and so is the security of the spectators. We are playing cricket, but the people watching need to understand and follow the rules and regulations of every country. It is very important to adhere to them,” Rohit asserted.

He added, “The rules are different in India and here. People should understand and respect these rules. Enjoy the match from the stands; there’s no need to run onto the ground. It’s not a distraction for us as players are focused on winning matches, scoring runs, and taking wickets. Such incidents do not distract us.”

Rohit’s response highlighted his concern for maintaining discipline and safety at sporting events while ensuring that the focus remains on the game itself.
