Semmozhi Poonga – Chennai

Semmozhi Poonga is Chennai’s first botanical garden, inaugurated in 2010 by then Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. This 20-acre park is a collaboration between the Horticulture and Agricultural Engineering departments of the Tamil Nadu Government. It features over 500 species of plants, including exotic flora and rare plant species, medicinal and aromatic herbs. The park also showcases a variety of bonsai varieties of ficus macrocarpa and ficus ginseng.
